Primacoustic FlexiBooth Instant Voice-over Booth, Beige
Z840-1130-03

The FlexiBooth is a full size 24" x 48" wall-mounted acoustic cupboard that opens up to surround the vocal talent and create a dry 'voice-over’ zone. The innovative design separates and attenuates room ambiance from the voice recording, which then allows the engineer to add echo or reverb and equalize the voice to best suit the performance in post production.

From the outside, the FlexiBooth looks like a typical cupboard. It features an attractive black melamine finish that is easy to clean. Inside, ultra high performance 6lb per cubic foot glass wool panels effectively absorb sound throughout the voice range. The acoustic panels are 100% encapsulated with micromesh and are covered in a tough yet attractive acoustically transparent fabric to enhance the fit and finish. Because of the heavy construction, sound attenuation is excellent.

The FlexiBooth can also be used as a variable room ambiance controller. Those that have recorded in large professional studios will be familiar with the variable acoustic panels that are often used to tailor room acoustics. For instance, a brighter more ambient room is generally preferred with acoustic instruments while a darker ambiance is often preferred for voice, electric guitars and so on. By positioning several FlexiBooths around the room, one can easily create different acoustic environments by simply opening or closing the FlexiBooth doors.

The Primacoustic FlexiBooth provides a simple yet highly effective solution for vocal recording that can adapt to any room. The FlexiBooth ships flat and assembles in minutes using common household tools.

Primacoustic TriPad
P300-0208

The TriPad (set of three) is a tripod microphone stand isolator designed to reduce disruptive resonance and noise from the studio floor, stage or drum riser from entering the microphone and contaminating the recording.

When recording, capturing the true essence of the instrument is achieved by placing the microphone far enough away so that the instrument as a whole along with the direct sound field will be take in. As you move the mic away from the source, the sensitivity of the microphone is increased and background noise invariably gains prominence.

Noise, like sound is a vibration. Common sources are street traffic, foot steps, heat and air conditioning systems, and other instruments. These are transmitted through the air and by vibrating through solids such as the floor and a microphone stand. The TriPad eliminates floor-borne vibrations by introducing a ‘spring-like’ isolation pad that essentially floats the microphone stand and decouples it from the floor.

The design is undeniably simple, yet incredibly effective. It begins with high density open-cell acoustic foam that has been modified for greater firmness to better stabilize the mic stand. It is then cut into a simple disc shape, drilled at a precise angle to match the industry standard K&M 201 tripod stand and then cut again to provide an access slot for quick mounting. Once in place the TriPad stays attached onto the mic stand making it easy to pick up and relocate. The benefits are immediately obvious: you get more of the instrument less background noise. This in turn means you can achieve desirable results without having to introduce radical equalization curves as a means to correct embedded problems.

The Primacoustic TriPad is a modestly priced yet highly effective tripod mic stand isolator that will quietly go about improving the sound of your recording every day! Comes shipped in a set of three units in a handy storage tube.

Primacoustic KickStand
P300-0200

The KickStand is a heavy microphone boom-arm isolator that combines a massive stabilizing base with an isolation pad to eliminate resonance from the stage, drum riser and studio floor from entering the microphone.

A common problem with bass guitar and kick drum is resonance on a live stage. This is generally caused by low frequencies coupling with the wood flooring which will combine with the instrument at certain frequencies and generate unwanted peaks and valleys.

Another problem is the physical vibration from the kick drum pedal and low-end from the PA system that causes the drums to rattle and transmit through the drum riser. Microphones that are near these sources are prone to picking up these unwanted sounds. The KickStand helps eliminate the problem by decoupling the microphone stand from the stage while introducing a stabilizing mass to hold the microphone firmly in place.

The design begins with a thick, high-density open cell acoustic foam isolation pad that covers the entire bottom plate. An innovative laser cut steel platform is 'wedge' shaped to eliminate standing waves while offering sufficient height to allow a boom-arm to be articulated into the ideal position. The isolation eliminates the resonance while the added mass stabilizes the microphone capsule for greater clarity and improved transient response.

Although originally developed for bass drum, the KickStand is very effective on electric guitar, bass and other instruments that generate low frequencies or may be subject to floor resonance from entering the mic via the microphone stand.

Primacoustic CrashGuard
P300-0105

The CrashGuard is a unique sound-shielding device that isolates the drum microphone to attenuate the sound of cymbals during the recording process. This has the net effect of reducing interference between the two sources thus enabling greater control over the sound of the drum.

Compact and light weight, the CrashGuard is designed to fit most popular drum microphones and mounts directly on the boom stand using the microphone's clip to hold it in place. The high impact ABS construction is tough enough to withstand the hit of a drum stick by even the most aggressive drummer.

To ensure the microphone performance is maintained, the under-belly is fully coated on the inside with high density open-cell foam to absorb internal reflections and reduce phase cancellation. Plus the innovative design features an extended cable cutout that allows the microphone to be articulated for precise placement, further optimizing the performance.

Once in place, the CrashGuard surrounds the microphone with a sonic barrier. By reducing the spill from the cymbals, more of the drum can be captured. This enables the engineer to add EQ to the drum such as increasing high end for more attack without accentuating the sound of the cymbal. On close proximity sources such as the high-hat and snare, the engineer enjoys greater balance over each sound.

The CrashGuard is an easy to use instrument shield designed to control the spill of cymbals entering the drum for greater control during the recording process.
